users.role = admin has platform-wide public API access. An organization membership role such as owner or admin does not grant access to other organizations. The backend checks the current database role for each public API session or API-key request. API keys still need the relevant read, write, panel:launch, or rewards:send scope and retain their lifetime spend cap.
Call GET /api/public/v1/admin/organizations with a read credential to get paginated organization IDs, names, and active owners’ names and email addresses in the current app. Pass search to match an organization name, owner name, or owner email before pagination. An organization can have multiple owners; owners is an array and can be empty. The endpoint is available only to platform admins.
Without an organization selection, platform admins can list and read public research across the app. Supply an organization ID to narrow account-scoped lists and usage, inspect its wallet, create work in that organization, or change its studies:
409 admin_organization_required; a different selected organization returns 404. Selecting an organization changes the request’s billing and audit context; it does not remove API-key scope checks or agent approval requirements.
The MCP tools use the optional organization_id input for the same selection. Start with list_organizations, optionally searching by organization name, owner name, or owner email. Show the matches to the human and pass the selected ID to the relevant tool. get_account and get_interview_usage_stats also accept it. Platform admins should show the selected organization and the current estimate to the human before a paid launch or participant reward.
