A user can belong to multiple organizations. Call GET /api/public/v1/organizations to list accessible organizations, then select one for subsequent requests. Ordinary users see only their active memberships in the current app; platform administrators have app-wide discovery and research access. Organization owner or member roles do not grant platform-wide access. The listing accepts search for an organization name, active owner name, or owner email, plus page and page_size (maximum 100). Access filtering and search happen before pagination. Results contain organization IDs, names, and an owners array of active owner names and emails; it may be empty. Pass the chosen organization on each request:
The header works with sessions and API keys. The API checks active membership for ordinary users and rejects an unauthorized selection with 403. Missing, deleted, or cross-app organizations are unavailable. Selection changes only this request’s workspace, billing, and audit context; it does not grant an administrator role or remove API-key scope checks, spend caps, or paid-action approval requirements. Without the header, the credential’s default organization is used; platform administrators have global research read access. Use the same organization for reads, writes, usage, job polls, and billing. A selected organization that differs from the study’s organization returns 404. A platform administrator changing another organization’s study without selecting its organization receives 409 organization_required. MCP tools accept the equivalent optional organization_id input. Start with list_organizations, show the matches to the human, then pass the chosen ID to subsequent tools. get_account and get_interview_usage_stats accept it too. Verify the selected account and show the estimate before paid recruitment or participant rewards. Organization discovery is available on the full, core, read-only, and compact MCP profiles.
