# Quickstart Guide

This guide gets you from zero to collecting insights in about 15 minutes. For detail on each step, see [Creating a Study](/creating-a-study/overview).

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, have ready:

* A clear research question — what are you trying to learn?
* Context about your company and situation
* A list of people to invite, or a plan to use our research panel

## Step 1: Create Study

Choose one of three study types: **In-depth Interview**, **Concept Test**, or **Prototype Test**. In-depth Interview is selected by default.

Click **Save & Continue**.

> **Not sure which?** Start with In-depth Interview and tell Charles what you want to learn. You can change it later.

## Step 2: Customize Plan

Chat with Charles about your company, what you're trying to learn, and any hypotheses you have. Your research plan builds in the panel on the right as you talk.

**Example input:**

> "We're Nike Store and our satisfaction scores have dropped over the past few months. We want to understand why customers are less happy and what's driving the decline."

This step usually takes 5–10 minutes. The more context you give Charles, the more useful the plan.

## Step 3: Review Goals

* Give your study a descriptive name
* Review the generated research plan
* Edit any questions or flow directly
* Click **Save & Continue**

## Step 4: Setup Interview

Five things to configure:

* **Moderator voice** — preview the options and pick one
* **Interview format** — Chat, Voice, or Video. You choose this; participants can't change it
* **Interview language** — 30 languages, or auto-detect and let the participant pick
* **Recruiting method** — bring your own participants, or use our panel. This determines your invite options later
* **Screener questions** — qualify participants before they reach the interview

Click **Save & Continue**.

## Step 5: Test Conversation

> **Recommended.** Optional, but a test run catches problems before real participants hit them.

* Click **Start Test Conversation**
* Experience the interview the way a participant will
* Leave feedback when you're done

Test conversations are free and don't consume credits.

## Step 6: Ready to Launch

Review your complete study configuration — study type, moderator, format, and the full research plan — then click **Save and Launch**.

Your study is live. Launching doesn't invite anyone yet.

## Step 7: Invite Participants

You're taken to your study dashboard. Open the **Invite Participants** menu — what you see depends on the recruiting method you chose in Step 4.
