# Interview exports

> Download study interview evidence as private CSV or JSONL files

## Export one page

Call `POST /api/public/v1/studies/{study_id}/exports/interviews` with `format=csv` or `format=jsonl`. The default `page=1` covers up to 100 interviews. A read-scoped API key can queue the export. Send an `Idempotency-Key` when retrying the same request after a timeout.

```http theme={null}
POST /api/public/v1/studies/{study_id}/exports/interviews?format=jsonl&page=1&redact_pii=true
Authorization: Bearer ui_sk_...
Idempotency-Key: 97127ee4-65c2-4978-8f8f-4a19dd19812d
```

The `202` response includes a `job_id`. Poll `GET /api/public/v1/studies/{study_id}/exports/interviews/jobs/{job_id}` until `status` is `succeeded`. The successful response includes `download_url`, `record_count`, and `next_page`. Queue that next page to retrieve the rest of a large study.

The JSONL file has one public interview object per line, with its spoken transcript turns. The CSV file has one row per spoken turn, with interview and participant IDs, status, quality, role, turn ID, message, and available timestamps. A CSV file may have more rows than `record_count`, which counts interviews.

## Privacy and retention

Exports default to `redact_pii=true`. This masks email addresses, phone numbers, and US Social Security numbers in transcript and screener text, and omits participant email and recording URLs from JSONL. Pattern masking does not detect every identifier, including names and street addresses. Set `redact_pii=false` only if your use requires the unmasked public interview fields.

Files live in a private storage bucket. The polling endpoint checks study access and job ownership before issuing a fresh signed URL that lasts 15 minutes. The job stops issuing URLs after seven days; the job processor deletes expired export objects. Store downloaded files according to your own retention policy.
